In the program that is.
It’s called the
Microsoft Open Charity
Licensing Program.
The program entitles
nonprofits an 80%
discount on everything
that can be purchased
through Microsoft. I’m
sure you’re asking
yourself, “Why would a
computer consultant
write about this?” The
answer is because I work
with nonprofit
organizations all the
time. Through my
experience I have
noticed that the
nonprofits never know
about the Open Charity
Licensing Program. Most
companies run Microsoft
software already…so, if
you’re a nonprofit
organization, it makes
sense to at least
inquire about whether
you are in this program.
Minimum of 5
licenses:
If you qualify for the
Microsoft Open Charity
Licensing Program, you
must initially purchase
5 licenses in order to
join the program.
Single license purchases
can be purchased after
the initial 5.
Differences
between Open Charity and
retail copies of
Microsoft software:
Instead of buying a
physical box of software
for each computer in
your organization as you
would through retail,
with Microsoft Open
Charity License you need
to only purchase one
media kit (aka: one
software cd) for the
software, and then
purchase enough licenses
to cover the remaining
amount of computers.
